Sunday Blues Church - Thank you All!!
The Sunday jams at Moe's have been growing over the past two months, and I would like to take the time and space to thank everyone, players and audience, for supporting interactive live music in Skagit County on otherwise dull and boring Sunday nights!!
We are putting anywhere from 10 to 20 different bands together each Sunday, no cover, where else can you see such amazing talent in a great room with great people!!! Special thanks to Jon Case, Manuel, Neil Sorenson, Jon Grover, and Wedge for bringing consistent solid performance and enthusiasm to the gig, and our thoughts and prayers go out today to the incredibly talented Colonel, who is undergoing surgery in his continuing recovery from a recent near-death experience - too bad his own hands can't work the knife!!!!
Erik Floe wins the first $10 Pictures Reward!!!
Erik brought in a bunch of images from the 11 May Blues Church, and he gets the $10 at the next church! Here's some shots from the show:
Jon Case, Jefferson on harp, Neil "Thor, God of Thunder" Sorenson on bass, and DJ on Drums

Tone Brothers, Gary B and Fat James

Power Trio!!! Manuel, Gary B, and Thor!!
My Privilege and Honor to be Jame's sideman for the evening --

Moe's Pub, Sedro Wooley - 18 May 2008 - Blues Church!
Have Mercy!! We were saddened that Johnny Brewer didn't show, but everyone more than made up for it with some just damned stunning performances. For the folks in the room, it was a four hour show with 6 different bands throwing down some stone rhythm and blues grooves, for free!!! Where else are ya gonna git this kind of show at that kind of price!!!
Airplane Dave Brown rode in straight from Wenatchee on his bagger and laid down some bass to start the show. He and Gary B will be riding south to California this week and next, putting some miles on Dave's scooters. Jon Grover, delivering some deep grooves midway thru the night, will be filling the ample Gary B drum throne in the house band next Sunday while Gary is away -
Colonel joined the J Charles House Band for the evening, and garnered the MVP award at the end of the night, rocking out on guitar, vocals, and bass.
Jon Case delivered solid guitar and vocals, and contributed some bass later in the evening - also pitching in with ears and fingers on our sound system, helping get the room dialed in!!
Montana Mark brought his A-Game for the evening, and showcased strong vocals and tight guitar, later sharing his photography and journalistic skills to the crew at the after-party table. He capped the evening by bringing in an incredible print of The Rolling Stones to share!
Portugal's finest, the incendiary Manuel, tore it up again - Kevin Helgeson (sp?? - someone hep me out here!!) brought out a beautiful red Flying V and delivered a rocking set, with some flaming slide work on some George Thorogood!
Colonel, Manuel, and Kevin kicked thru my Marshall/SuperReverb backline and brought tears to my eyes to hear my speakers pumping out stone Stratocaster and Humbucker tones!!!! The House Was a-Rockin!
The Coyote Blues crew came in and delivered a great set, looking forward to more from these great players!!!
Anyone I missed, email me and let me know!!! We will be doing it again this coming Sunday - come out and hear the PNW's finest players on one stage!
Big thanks again to Moe and the crew at Moe's Tavern - The Last Best Hope for Live Music in Skagit County, Washington State, the USA, the World!!!!
Moe's Pub, Sedro Wooley - 11 May 2008 - Blues Church!
The second Blues Jam, held on Mother's Day, was another great evening - lots of great players and music - Fat James showed up for a set, Manuel ripped it up in South American style, Jon Case brought it with both hands - Neil Sorenson delivered solid bottom on the bass, we had Mike, DJ, and Wedge on drums thruout the evening - I got a chance to hear my Super Reverb driven hard by Jefferson on harp, James, and Manuel - really love to hear other people play thru my gear!!
Next Sunday, 18 May - Johnny Brewer will join the J Charles Band for a night of high energy, smokin' guitar!!!
Moe's Pub, Sedro Wooley - 4 May 2008 - Blues Church!
Our first Sunday Night Blues Church Jam was held, and it was a huge success - we had 75 people in the room at one point! Lot's of good jammers - it was loud and raucous and a great time was had by all!!!! We will be doing it again this Sunday, Mother's Day, 11 May 2008, so bring out yo mama and come on down to the Sunday Night Church of the Blues!!
Moe's Pub, Sedro Wooley - 19 April 2008
Moe's - Where nobody knows your name! Great room, great management, great people in the best Live Music town in Skagit County - this was our second nite here at Moe's, and Skagit homeboy Erik Turner showed up with his Steinberger to throw down some I-IV-V's with us - pictures courtesy of his beautiful lady, Candy!
